So, Then I Just Backed it: A Series on My Kickstarter Adventures (Part 5)

4–7 minutes

It has been a whole year since I wrote my first article in my Kickstarter series, and I figured it’s a great time to update you on the projects I have backed during that time and what I am currently backing. If you are not familiar with my series and need to catch up, please check them out. So, let’s see what I have been doing in Kickstarter this year.

Last year I had a total of 40 backed projects based on my part 4 article. In this article I explained the games I have backed, company, and status. I figured a list of my latest kicked campaigns would bring to light some of the amazing work and projects that have and will come out! As you know these campaigns, though passion projects, can be time consuming and tiring, so I give credit to all the people who try and make the best product for its backers and future customers.

I have now backed 50 projects on Kickstarter which is a milestone in my opinion, and I have many more aspirations for this platform. Because of that I’m throwing this out there to anyone who wants an individual, such as myself, to join their Kickstarter team, I would love to experience Kickstarter on the creator’s side at least once in my life. With that out of the way here are the 10 projects I have backed within a year.

#41.      Metroid Cinematica Recharged – Epic Symphonic Album – A 2-hour symphonic tribute to the Metroid series by Sam Dillard. I will receive this both digitally and physically along with a second Metroid Dread focused digital album and The Legend of Zelda tribute digital album. Successfully backed on November 21st, 2021.

#42.      Chef RPG– It can be best described by the creators Pixel Architect as a Stardew Valley like game whereas a traveling chef you must craft your culinary talents to make a restaurant, you acquire, thrive. The beautiful pixel art combined with RPG and exploration elements will make for a hearty experience. Successfully backed on December 16th, 2021.

#43.       Ninty Fresh Magazine Issue 6 – An amazing magazine made by Ninty Media was inspired by magazines such as Nintendo Power and you can tell by just looking at the quality and care that is put into the pages. This magazine focused on the banana king himself, Donkey Kong, and not the actual. Banana King from Charlie the Unicorn part 2, Successfully backed on March 25th, 2022.

#44.       Toasty: Ashes of Dusk – This Action RPG game from Pocket Llama entrusts that you, Marshall the Marshmallow Knight, will save your friends and stop the cataclysm from occurring. Taking inspiration from games such as The Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past, Pokemon, and Final Fantasy we should see some pleasant end results. I opted to get a physical copy of the game for Nintendo Switch and look forward to its release. Successfully backed on April 28th, 2022.

#45. PuffPals: Island Skies – The developers Fluffnest, have created a truly wholesome game in this farming exploration game. The game offers nostalgic memories of growing up as a kid while you explore the many islands and interacting with the friends and animals there. Collect and customize your personal space and feel the magic that was sprinkled into the game. Successfully backed on May 6th, 2022.

#46. Toying With Time: A Majora’s Mask Album (Disc 1 of 2) – Master Sword is an amazing Zelda metal band that I have previously backed twice before this campaign, so I know the quality of the music and the care they put into it. 8 new original songs will be released on this album, and I can’t wait to hear what they come up with this time around. Successfully backed on July 7th, 2022.

#47.       Ninty Fresh Magazine Issue 7 – The 7th issue from Ninty Fresh I have yet to receive the physical copy, but the digital copy looked amazing. Off the heels of the success Nintendo had this year the magazine featured Kirby as the headliner. Kirby sucked up the Ninty Fresh staff and spit out a well written periodical. Successfully backed on July 20th, 2022.

#48.       Master Key – A game developed by Achromi is a black and white game describe as a 1-bit Zelda-like game filled with secrets. It goes out of its way to not hold your hand and looks to be both fun and challenging and has Metroidvania design influence when it comes to progression. Successfully backed on July 31st 2022

#49.       Kloa – Child of the Forest – An action-adventure style game filled with fast paced combat, engaging puzzles, and beautiful artwork. Wildpad games development team is bringing a story of curse that has corrupted the hearts and minds of the once peaceful beings who inhabit it. It is up to Kloa to navigate the landscapes and restore the balance the world once had. The game draws inspiration from The Legend of Zelda and Studio Ghibli. Successfully backed on August 18th, 2022.

#50. World of Anterra – An in-progress Kickstarter with 3 weeks left to go as of this publication has already smashed its first few stretch goals. 81monkeys is creating an innovative open world RPG influenced by Skyrim and set in a pixelated art style. It features deep rooted lore, expansive progression system, fast paced combat. If you enjoy these elements and it’s still live, please go and back the game!

As you can see, I have had a long and fun journey and I can’t wait until these and previous campaigns I’ve back finish up so I can get my hands on the investment I have made. If you have questions or want to talk about gaming or related topics. Please feel free to reach out. The best place to find me is on Twitter.

Do you think you will back anything this year? Have you already, if so, what was it? If you have never done so, what is preventing you from trying it?  Please let me know your thoughts and check out my other articles here at Boss Rush Network.

They talk about why game preservation is more than nostalgia, why players want confidence that their libraries will survive future hardware changes, and how Xbox could build stronger loyalty by respecting past purchases.
