Today, Square Enix delivered a Direct Style presentation full of announcements, game reveals, and updates for titles that are already on shelves. They also talked about Tomb Raider‘s 25th Anniversary with news that may excite fans.
The presentation started out with a breakdown of their new title, Outriders. Releasing on April 1st, presenters talked about the story, classes, and showed more of the game. Taking place on the world of Enoch, the game lets players control an Outrider and fight to save the last bit of humanity. Players receiver special powers that make them “altered” and may go into the world in single player or team up in Co-op. Fans will get to to choose fromm 4 classes that each have their own abilities and ways to regain health, The demo is available on Xbox One, Series X and S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Steam, the Epic Game Store, and Stadia. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass day one.
Outriders was followed up with some details about Tomb Raider‘s 25th Anniversary. The Tomb Raider Definitive Survival Trilogy, containing Tomb Raider, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider and all DLC, is available right now for $19.99 (USD) for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and 5.
Also announced was a flurry of news that Lara’s Manor is coming to Fortnite March 23, a Netflix animated show is in the works, a sequel to the 2018 Tomb Raider film, showing up in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Break Point and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a cookbook based of the franchise, and the Lost Valley Statue, all coming soon.
Square Enix also covered upcoming mobile games. Just Cause Mobile will be a tactics game. Hitman Sniper Assassin was announced, but no gameplay. They’re also working with Taito to produce a Space Invaders AR game.
Given the working relationship with Taito, Square Enix also showed off what Taito has in store. They announced TOUHOU Spell Bubble Side Story Pack 2. Darius Cozmic Collection contains Dariusburst Another Chronicles EX+ and G-Darius HD are available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is a new game in the popular Bubble Bobble series. Take a look at the trailers for an inside look.
The Avengers followed after Taito with a look at the PlayStation 5 and Series X version of the game with a free update to current owners. They also showed off Hawkeye and his game play with some new story elements. They also revealed more of their road for the game and coming later to the game, a new expansion with Black Panther.
Balan Wonderworld was next with a new trailer and is still planned to release on March 26, alongside Monster Hunt Rise. Here’s the new trailer for it.
Presenters also surprised everyone with a new Life Is Strange game title, Life Is Strange: True Colors. Gamers can play as Alex who visits her brother, Gabe, whom she hasn’t seen in 8 years. One day, Gabe is missing and players learn he has died. Feeling the hurt of this tragedy, Alex must search for the truth using her secret power of feeling and absorbing others’ aura. Developed by Deck Nine, this game seems to take inspiration from Tell Me Why, which was developed by the previous team, Dontnod. They are also remastering the first Life Is Strange and it’s DLC Life Is Strange: Behind The Storm. The full game for Life Is Strange: True Colors will be release on September 10. The Life Is Strange Remastered has a Fall 2021 release plan.
They ended the show by revealing their newest title from Luminous Production, Forspoken. Planned for 2022 on PlayStation 5 and PC, this third-person RPG features actress Ella Balinska, who plays Frey Holland, is in a desolated environment and must survive the terrors that await her. Check out the trailer to see this stunning game that is still in development.
