We’re only in April of 2021 as I write this, yet Capcom has been dominating headlines all year. The highly anticipated Monster Hunter Rise released on 3/26/21, and has already sold 5 million physical copies worldwide as of 4/6/21! On top of this, they have announced that Monster Hunter Stories 2 will release in July during their Monster Hunter Showcase. Aside from all of the Monster Hunter excitement, what else do they have hiding under their sleeve?
Like a zombie emerging from the graveyard, Capcom revived the Ghouls and Goblins series, where they appropriately named it Ghouls and Goblins: Resurrection. Ghouls and Goblins was a frustratingly difficult game on the NES where players basically fell under attack from all angles, and this new entry did not change. Retro gamers love the challenge, and this brought some nostalgia.
Speaking of major franchises, Resident Evil Village is going to be released on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 7th. Fans are really looking forward to this entry in the series which takes place shortly after the events in Resident Evil 7, where you take control of Ethan Winters and rescue his daughter Rosemary who disappears. Inventory will play similarly to the highly regarded Resident Evil 4. Let’s also not forget about Vampire Lady!
Wait, there’s more! Ace Attorney series director Shu Takumi detailed The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles in an announcement video released Wednesday. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will include the original Nintendo 3DS games (The Great Ace Attorney: The Adventure of Ryunosuke Naruhodo and The Great Ace Attorney 2: The Resolve of Ryunosuke Naruhodo) and will be released July 27 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC via Steam. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will also include a first-time feature: an auto-advancing story mode. That mode will let players enjoy the game’s full story without having to do the detective work and courtroom battles for themselves.
