After many delays, Techland has finally given their zombie title, Dying Light, a release date, and a name change to go with this new date. The game will now be known as Dying Light 2 Stay Human, and the game is set for a December 7, 2021 release.

Along with this announcement, Techland showed a new gameplay trailer and they gave us a story synopsis to go with the trailer.

“Players will take control of Aiden Cauldwell, a survivor trying to piece together his past. Three factions are vying for power over the scraps of civilization. Aiden can work for or against each of these factions to help shape your story. But at night all three factions are at the mercy of the zombies.”

The trailer showcases the core mechanics of the game, like the Day/Night cycle and the parkou movement, both of which were present in the original game, but improved for the sequel. Although unlike the first game, the choices you make will now impact the city and the way the playing character navigates the world.

In celebration of the release date, Techland announced a special collector’s edition which comes with an art book, a steelbook case, a secret locations map, UV stickers, a UV flashlight, and a statue with the main protagonist attacking a zombie. And for those like me, who haven’t played the first game, Techland have also released Dying Light Platinum edition, which collects all the previously released DLC with the original game; currently on sale for 75% off on Steam, GOG, PlayStation and Xbox stores.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human will release on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series S|X and Xbox One on December 7, 2021.
