Resident Evil Producer Leaving Capcom for Bungie

Peter Fabiano, a producer for various Resident Evil titles, including the recently released Resident Evil Village, has announced via Twitter that he will be leaving his longtime position at Capcom to join Bungie, presumably to work on Destiny 2.

This comes after Bungie announced in February that they are forming a new leadership team with the intention of growing Destiny into other forms of media.

While it hasn’t been confirmed if Fabiano will be working with the Destiny franchise, his roles at Capcom as producer, localization director, and Senior Manager of the Global Research and Development department makes him an ideal candidate to help expand the Destiny universe. His tweet also included the phrase “Eyes up guardian,” a nod to the series.

Fabiano’s résumé with survival horror also matches with the current direction Bungie has been taking Destiny 2. Its most recent season, titled “Season of the Chosen,” mixes a horror atmosphere with the fast pace of a FPS, featuring a vicious alien species called the Cabal that is hellbent on conquering other worlds.

A recent secret mission called “Presage” where the player investigates an abandoned “ghost ship,” that too leaned heavily on the horror theme.

Bungie has announced a new expansion named “The Witch Queen” that also seems to be continuing the horror trend based on the title. The expansion is expected to launch sometime early next year.

What direction do you hope to see the Destiny franchise take? Have you liked Bungie’s recent attempts in dabbling with survival horror? Leave us a comment below, as we’d love to hear what you have to say!
