Today, Ubisoft unveiled new updates for its long running live service title Rainbow Six: Siege. Siege has long been popular on the esports scene and today Ubisoft made clear their intentions to continue supporting Siege despite unveiling the next game in the series, Extraction.

Ubisoft announced during this afternoon’s Ubisoft Forward event that Siege will be receiving an update late this month to begin cross progression and crossplay availability on PC, Amazon’s Luna platform and Google’s Stadia service beginning on June 30th, 2021. This was coupled with the confirmation that Playstation and Xbox will also receive these features in early 2022, along with cross progression between all platforms. It was made unclear during the Forward presentation if crossplay will also extend between all platforms.
In addition, a new operator, Thunderbird, was announced for Siege. Thunderbird was introduced via an animated clip detailing her backstory. Players won’t have to wait long to get their hands on Thunderbird, as she will be available beginning with Siege’s new NorthStar season beginning next week.
Rainbow Six: Siege is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PC, and Luna, with Stadia’s version launching with the upcoming season.
