Back 4 Blood Shows Off its PVP Mode at E3

During a dedicated E3 stream, Warner Bros. released more details for Turtle Rock’s newest multiplayer game, Back 4 Blood’s PVP modeSwarm.

Swarm mode tasks two, four player teams against each other in a best-of-three set of rounds. Teams will swap between the Cleaners (humans) and the Ridden (Zombies) in between rounds and will be rewarded points depending on how long the Cleaners can starve off the Ridden’s attacks. The winning team will be determined depending on whose Cleaners survive the longest.

When playing as the Ridden, players will be able to choose from nine different types of Ridden. The Ridden types are Tallboy, Bruiser, Crusher, Reeker, Exploder, Retch, Stinger, Hocker and Stalker. As was similar with Turtle Rock’s previous game each of these variants will have different abilities to stop the Cleaners with.

Along with the game play stream, Warner Bros. and Turtle Rock announce an Open Beta for the game that will release August 5-9 for those that pre-order the game, then it will be open to everyone else from 12-16 of August. The Open Beta will be available on all platforms, and will support both Cross-play and Cross-gen.

Back 4 Blood is sounding a lot like the Left 4 Dead 3 game we have all been waiting for, with this new mode sounding like it has been lifted straight from Left 4 Dead. Aside from the name, this might be the game Left 4 Dead fans have been looking for.

Back 4 Blood will release October 12 Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC and will be available through Xbox Game Pass Day One.
