A new live-action Pokémon television series is being made for Netflix, according to a report by the entertainment publication Variety. This new show, still in early development, will be written and produced by Joe Henderson, known for his work on Lucifer, another Netflix property.
Lending credence to this news, Netflix has the rights to various Pokémon animated shows, and has been creating new Pokémon animated content including a new season of Pokémon Master Journeys launching later this year in the US.

Pokémon is the highest grossing media franchise of all time, according to TitleMax. The successful 2019 film Detective Pikachu, based on the game of the same name, marked the first time the Pokémon franchise experimented with live-action entertainment.
