I always believe that every year is a good year for gaming; however, we all know sometimes release schedules ebb and flow, leading to periods of drought or 1-2 punches of blockbuster after blockbuster.
The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the gaming industry in several ways, such as a shortage in next generation consoles and delays of new games. While we are seeing some relief with exciting announcements at this year’s E3 and publisher-specific showcases, gamers are still craving for more. Then it struck me when I watched the September Nintendo Direct live–2022 is going to be stacked.
Who could forget the breathtaking trailer for Ubisoft’s upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game? Nintendo has also blown us away with several big IPs arriving next year such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Bayonetta 3, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, and (hopefully) the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And how about PlayStation? They have Horizon Forbidden West, Grand Turismo 7, and God of War Ragnarok, to name a few.

I feel that the COVID delays pushed many great games into late 2021 and 2022. In my opinion, I think this just makes for a banger of a year, if not one of the biggest years in gaming thus far.
