Watch the Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Movie Trailer!

It’s finally here! The trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was revealed at the Game Awards on Thursday night, giving fans more of what they loved from the surprise hit of 2020. Ben Schwartz is confirmed to be returning as the titular hero as well as Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. Earlier this year it was confirmed that Isris Elba will lend his voice to Knuckles and that Colleen O’Shaughnessey will reprise her role as Tails from the video games.

Paramount Pictures has also released the synopsis of the film.

“The world’s favourite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilisations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. From the filmmakers behind The Fast and the Furious and Deadpool, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.”

It is also worth noting that Tyson Hesse is returning as storyboard and design lead on the film, so it should feel like a cohesive sequel. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is due out in theaters on April 8, 2022.
