Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Ships Over 4 Million Units

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was a wonderful surprise when it was released in November of 2020. It allowed players to visit the Breath of the Wild version of Hyrule before the calamity, a warring but thriving world of wonder and awe, as well as play a pretty fun game.

Omega Force, the developer behind Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, has revealed that the title has now shipped over four million units worldwide. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean it has sold four million units, but it’s a great indication that sales were exceptionally high. There has always been a stigma attached to the Musou genre, but it’s nice to see that attaching the Zelda license to the genre elevated people’s opinions overall.

For those interested without giving away spoilers for the story, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity acts as a sort of prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild while also attempting to be a sequel to the original Hyrule Warriors title, which debuted on the Wii U and later as a definitive edition on Switch.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is out now on Nintendo Switch as well as its Expansion Pass, which includes two large DLC packs. Did you enjoy your return to Hyrule?
