Boss Rush Banter: Which Batman Game is the Best?

Today marks the beginning of Robert Pattinson’s reign as the Caped Crusader, as The Batman finally hits theaters. You can check out our review HERE to see how Matt Reeves’ take on The Dark Knight fares–don’t worry, there are no spoilers in our review. Throughout the years, Batman has been a mainstay in pop culture, appearing in a number of movies, comics, TV shows and video games. In fact, Batman has starred in 41 different games, and that’s not counting his appearance in Justice League properties or fighting games such as Injustice: Gods Among Us. We are even getting Gotham Knights later this year and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League next year–both set in and around the world of Batman.

With so many games in the Caped Crusader’s arsenal, not all of them can be masterpieces; in fact, most of them aren’t. That said, there are a few that stand out amongst the crowd, and I’d like to know: which Batman game is the greatest?

For me, it has to be Batman: Arkham Asylum. Sure, future installments in the series would improve upon the gameplay and setting of the first one, but none of them really capture the claustrophobic and down right frightening feeling of being trapped in an insane asylum with people who want you dead. A true Metroid-vania style game in 3D, Arkham Asylum set the bar for superhero games to come, and truly innovated an unique and addicting fighting style that games to this day are still improving upon.

But that’s not the only Batman game. Maybe you are a fan of the Lego Batman series, or Return of the Joker for the original PlayStation is your favorite. Which Batman game do you think is the best? Let us know in the comments, or join the Boss Rush Discord!
