Approximately one week after the Xenoblade Direct, Nintendo shared a mini presentation focusing on third party releases within the next year. The approximately 20 minute video dropped early on Tuesday, June 28th at 9 A.M. EST with well over 25 titles–some releasing soon, some releasing early 2023. If you’re like most people that were either sleeping or working, you may not have seen it or had the time to sit and digest everything, so let us at Boss Rush provide you a bite-sized recap:
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Opens the Direct Mini
The Nintendo Direct Mini opened with a dazzling trailer to Monster Hunter Rise’s DLC, Sunbreak, that releases June 30th. The demo is already available, but in addition to the beefy trailer, Capcom dropped a roadmap of free title updates. The first of which, Seething Bazelgeuse, arrives in August, and it will provide special and rare species of monsters as well as a new area to roam. So far, this road map provides four updates, three of which are set all within 2022.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes premiered here at the Direct Mini. This suspenseful, action and puzzle game surrounding murder and deception is brought to us by Simogo and Annapurna Interactive. The game plays primarily in black and white with splashes of red or pink, giving it a macabre vibe. It releases first on the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2023.
Classic Characters Return in Slew of New Releases
The next segment featured several titles featuring some old and beloved characters such as Bomberman and Pac-Man.
First, we have Konami’s Super Bomberman R2. It will release sometime next year. Next, we see Megaman Battle Network Legacy, jam-packed with ten Megaman titles! Lastly, we see Pac-Man in a 3D adventure titled PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC. This iconic character lands on the Switch in this latest adventure on August 26th.
Blanc
This hand-drawn black and white adventure features two unlikely allies who utilize their unique abilities to survive. This story is told without any text and provides an online co-op feature so you can play with a friend. Blanc releases first to the Switch on February 2023.
Return to Monkey Island
Devolver Digital’s Return to Monkey Island was shown off with a fun gameplay trailer. It will arrive to Switch first sometime this year.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Not much has been said since its announcement last year, and now this Nintendo Direct Mini spent some serious time showcasing this highly anticipated collaboration with Ubisoft. New features include the ability to move around the battle field before attacking and playing with new characters such as Bowser. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will release October 20th, and pre-orders are now available. Ubisoft will reveal more details on their Youtube and Twitch channels tomorrow, June 29th, at 12 P.M. EST.
“Something for Everyone” Montage
The Nintendo Direct Mini switched gears with a montage of several games of all kinds:
- Little Noah: Scion of Paradise–This rogue-lite action game is now available!
- RAILGRADE— This railroad management sim releases this fall.
- RPG Time: The Legend of Wright–Enjoy the hand-drawn pages that you adventure through. Pre-orders for this adventure begins today and releases August 18th.
Sonic Frontiers
SEGA’s iconic character, Sonic, zipped into the Nintendo Direct Mini after its debut trailer released at the end of May. More gameplay elements were on display–including new cyberspace levels, one of which looks a lot like the classic Green Hill Zone. Sonic Frontiers will be available this holiday.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Live out a fantastical journey with Disney and Pixar characters in this adventure-meets-sim game. A phenomena called the Forgetting occurs in Dreamlight Valley, and without these magical memories, Disney and Pixar characters withdraw into the Dream Castle. Help restore what has been taken away when early access hits the Nintendo Switch September 6th.
LIVE A LIVE
Both a trailer and Treehouse event featured Live a Live, a game releasing July 22nd. You play with several protagonists and explore several time periods. The Direct Mini announced a demo with three chapters are available later today, and the best news is that the save data will transfer to the full game when purchased. A Treehouse featured LIVE A LIVE after the Nintendo Direct Mini as well which you can check out below:
Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom
When you land on a new planet, you begin your faming-sim adventure with Doraemon and friends. Local play will also be available. This game will release later this year.
Minecraft Legends
First announced at the Xbox Showcase, the Nintedo Direct Mini featured the next iteration of the blockbuster franchise, Minecraft. Enemies from another dimension invade this fantastical world. This title will launch on the Nintendo Switch next year.
Square Enix titles
Several Square Enix titles were shown off at this Nintendo Direct Mini presentation:
- A special edition of Neir: Automata–-The End of Yorha Edition–will drop October 6th. Pre-orders are available today.
- Dragon Quest Treasures, a spin off of the Dragon Quest franchise, releases December 9th.
- Harvestella, a new faming sim game premiered with a released date of November 4th. You don’t just plant and harvest crops, you also battle monsters and face a threat called Quietus, which interrupts the natural cycle of the seasons.
Game Release Montage
As we near the end of the Direct Mini presentation, we are shown another flurry of games with release dates:
- Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes–Now available
- No Man’s Sky–October 7th, 2022
- A Plague Tale: Requiem–Cloud Version— October 18th, 2022
- Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions–July 28th, 2022
Portal: Companion Collection
In a brief trailer, fans of this franchise learn that this collection will be available today.
Persona games
The Nintendo Direct Mini ended with what many hoped to appear on the Nintendo platform: Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable. Persona 5 Royal will be first to drop on October 21st with the other two titles still pending a release date.
