52:31 | Bayonetta 3 Finally Gets a Release Date

Bayonetta 3, the highly anticipated sequel in PlatinumGames popular stylized action series announced in December of 2017, finally has a release date and its sooner than we thought: October 28, 2022. In an action-packed three and a half minute trailer, the date was revealed as well as new playable characters, multiple Bayonettas, controllable monsters, and more. Also announced was a pretty large special edition called the Trinity Masquerade Edition, which includes 3 reversible game case covers, a 200 page art book, and a physical edition of the game. The first game is also getting a limited physical release, priced at a reasonable $30 at select retailers. Bayonetta was originally released in 2009 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, developed by Platinum games and published by Sega. The surprise sequel was funded and published by Nintendo in 2014 for the Wii U and rereleased for Nintendo Switch in 2018. This third installment is also being funded and published by Nintendo, though any future entries are unknown as the IP is still held by Sega.

  • Question: Greysun Morales: Do you guys think Bayonetta 3 has the potential to make a sales record for the series? Specifically, will it outsell both Bayo games? I think the potential is there since the Switch has such a large install base and Nintendo has been marketing Bayonetta like a proper first-party.

1:07:40 | Nintendo Acquires Dynamo Studios

Do you remember those adorable Pikmin shorts on Wii U? Well, Nintendo has purchased the CG production studio that created those. Nintendo has officially entered an agreement to acquire Dynamo Pictures, credited for their work on Death Stranding, Persona 5, Metroid: Other M, and dozens of other projects. The company will be renamed Nintendo Pictures and will focus on “development of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP” and the “planning and production of visual content including CG animation.” What do we expect Nintendo to do with this acquisition?

1:15:14 | Digital Extremes Announces New Game

Digital Extremes, developer of the popular free-to-play third person action title Warframe, has announced their first new game in almost a decade at Tenocon. The game is called Soulframe, a free-to-play Fantasy game drawing inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, specifically Princess Mononoke, pushing the idea of industry meeting nature.

“The conceit [in ‘Soulframe’] is that the world itself is a little angry about what’s been done to it, and the grounds underneath tend to shift throughout the day. So there’s going to be proceduralism within the cave networks and crevasses and so on underneath the world.”

The game will oppose Warframe’s PvE gameplay style with a focus on melee with procedurally generated environments. Warframe released in March of 2013 and has quietly evolved into one of the most successful games-as-a-service outside of Destiny and Fortnite.

1:18:52 | Pokemon Unite Celebrates 1st Anniversary

Pokemon Unite, the Poke-Moba released a year ago, has seemed to be on the quiet side over the last few months in terms of additions. But that has changed for its one year anniversary, as the game has added new Pokemon, game modes, and more. Over the next few months, Pokemon Unite will be Glaceon, Buzzwole, and Tyranitar as new characters, the Icy Glaceon Challenge, the Anniversary Cake Challenge, returning Trainer Support Event, and what looks like a boss rush mode. Pokemon Unite has quietly been a huge hit for the Pokemon Company and its great to see the support continue.
