Comic-Con International came to a close Sunday, July 24, wrapping up the four-day celebration of all things pop culture.
The annual convention returned to an in-person event for the first time since 2019 and companies made the most of their time during the event. For a full recap of the first, second, and third days of Comic-Con, visit the Boss Rush Network.
Though quiet, day four of Comic-Con still treated fans with a plethora of programs and one last opportunity for guests to show-off their best cosplay.
FX Shows Provide Closing Panels at Comic-Con
Some of the biggest news to come out of day four was Mayans MC will return for a fifth season. Mayans MC is a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy, which ran for seven seasons. Furthermore, 20th Television signed series co-creator Elgin James to a new multiyear deal.
Mayans MC, which finished its fourth season in June, is a gritty drama about a motorcycle gang along the California/Mexico border.
The other FX show on display was the mockumentary comedy What We Do In the Shadows.
The cast was on hand for a special screening of an episode set to air Tuesday. Cast members further answered questions about the show’s fourth season and what fans can expect to see moving forward.
What We Do In The Shadows is based on a 2014 movie of the same name. The movie was written and directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Watiti, both of whom have had guest appearances on the show.
Looking Forward in the World of Entertainment
With the world on the other end of Comic-Con International, fans can look forward to other entertainment events.
One of the biggest in the near future is the D23 Expo set for Sept. 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center near Disneyland..
This event allows fans to celebrate the various aspects of the Walt Disney Company including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars. It also provides Disney an opportunity to further showcase its announced content, particularly Star Wars is the franchise had limited exposure at Comic-Con.
As far as releases, Marvel had a big showing at Comic-Con with its various trailers and announcements for Phase 5 and beyond. I Am Groot (Aug. 10) and She-Hulk: Attorney-at-Law (Aug. 17) are both set to come out on Disney Plus while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Nov. 11) will be the next step in the movie progression.
DC will also have a big releases coming up as Black Adam (Oct. 21) and Shazam: Fury of the Gods (Dec. 16) are on the docket.
