Agatha: Coven of Chaos is filling out its cast as Aubrey Plaza has reportedly joined the cast of the WandaVision spinoff.
The reveal comes from a Variety report though Marvel nor Plaza have confirmed the news. Variety has stood by its reporting, citing its detailing on past details surrounding the show.
No further details are available regarding the show, which is slated for release on Disney Plus in 2023. The series will follow Kathryn Hahn’s nosey neighbor/powerful witch Agatha Harkness, who first appeared in WandaVision.
This wouldn’t be Plaza’s first foray into a Marvel product as she played Lenny Busker in the FX show Legion, which lived within the world of X-Men. This appearance was not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as at the time 20th Century Studios Marvel projects were not under the Marvel Studios umbrella.
That said, other characters from 20th Century Studios projects have made or will make debuts in the MCU though there is no word on if that involves Plaza.
Along with Plaza’s alleged involvement with Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Emma Caulfield Ford, who played Dottie in WandaVision, recently confirmed she would reprise her role. Variety also reported Joe Locke of Heartstopper is also part of the cast though no official role has been linked to him.
The addition of Plaza would be a reunion of Parks and Recreation actresses as both Hahn and Plaza played characters on the NBC sitcom.
Furthermore, Plaza has been busy this year as she has appeared in both Emily The Criminal and Spin Me Round as well as lending her voice acting to the FXX show Little Demon. She’s also appeared in The White Lotus.
Plaza is a fun actress to have attached to any project. She was great in her role in Legion and could fit the witch-centric tone of Agatha: Coven of Chaos really well.
It’s also great to see the world of WandaVision expanding as it was a great start to the MCU’s presence on Disney Plus. Even if the reports don’t pan out, this nugget is getting fans talking, which is all you can ask for surrounding a project that doesn’t have many details readily available.
