The final season of The Umbrella Academy is in the works and showrunner Steve Blackman recently revealed a small update on production.
Blackman provided an Instagram post of the cover page of season 4’s inaugural episode with the caption “And So it Begins… One Last Time.” Among the other nuggets revealed in the post was the episode title “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want.”
The Umbrella Academy, which is based on a comic series of the same name from Dark Horse Comics, has run on Netflix since 2019. Netflix revealed in August that the fourth season would be the show’s last. At this time, there is no confirmed release date or plot details.
The Netflix show revolves around a team of seven adopted siblings each with their own super power. Billionaire Reginald Hargreeves has trained them since they were babies to become celebrity heroes.
The group reunites as adults and works to save the world while overcoming their interpersonal difficulties.
The cast of The Umbrella Academy includes Elliot Page as Viktor, Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Five, Justin H. Min as Sparrow Ben, Ritu Arya as Lila Pitts, and Colm Feore as Reginald Hargreeves.
The Umbrella Academy has been a huge success for Netflix as the most recent season debuted at No. 1 in the service’s English-language TV weekly rankings. It also spent five weeks in the Top 10 on the streaming service.
The first three seasons are available to stream on Netflix as the most recent season dropped on June 22.
This is a classic example of giving the tiniest amount of information to fans and letting them do the rest. There is no other information out there about this project and yet fans will break down the title to no end.
You couldn’t ask for better publicity than that.
