SNK has released their long awaited collection NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 on the Nintendo Switch and Steam, along with the launch of a new trailer revealing all ten included games.
Gamers can look to enjoy the following games as part of this release of classic titles that originally released on the handheld console:
- SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters’ Clash
- Big Bang Pro Wrestling
- Biomotor Unitron
- Mega Man Battle & Fighters
- Puzzle Link2
- Ganbare Neo Poke-Kun
- The King of Fighters Battle de Paradise
- Baseball Stars Color
- Pocket Tennis Color
- NeoGeo Cup ’98 Plus Color
SNK first announced that the collection was “coming soon” back in August, with the release date finally being unveiled last week. The entire lineup of games had been unknown until the trailer’s premiere today.
The first volume of the NeoGeo Pocket Color collection released on March 17, 2021 and included 10 titles to play on the Switch; the compilation was later released on Steam in September 2021.
The NeoGeo Pocket Color was a 16-bit color handheld console manufactured by SNK and released in 1999; it was an improved version of the Japanese exclusive NeoGeo Pocket, which had released a year prior. Though initially successful, the large install base for Nintendo’s Game Boy, the popularity of the emerging Pokémon franchise, and the anticipated launch of the 32-bit Game Boy Advance led to the NeoGeo Pocket Color having a short life of on two years. Still, many acclaimed games were made for the console, which have been difficult for gamers to experience until now.
