YS VIII Available Now on PS5, Includes New Content Never Released Outside of Japan

The acclaimed 2016 JRPG YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is now on PlayStation 5, coming not only improved visuals and performance, but cosmetic DLC that’s never before been released outside of Japan.

While much of the base game remains the same, Ys VIII on PS5 promises to have outfits to adorn your wide array of party members that will arrive worldwide for the very first time.

Developed by Nihon Falcom and published by NIS America, Vs VIII is part of the long running Ys series of JRPGs. In Lacrimosa of Dana, players control a young man named Adol who becomes shipwrecked on the cursed island Seiren. Along with other survivors, Adol sets out to discover the secrets of Seiren and find a way to escape from the dreaded island.

Combat in Ys VIII is in real-time, where players control multiple party members by switching between them on-the-fly, using their individual abilities to match the situation.

Ys VIII originally released on the PS Vita in 2016 in Japan, with it arriving in 2017 for Vita and PS4 the following year worldwide. Later, it would be ported to Nintendo Switch and Stadia; an abridged version, Vs VIII Mobile, is still planned for release on Android and iOS, and will feature reimagined locations as well as a new character.
