Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Debuts First Trailer at 2022 Game Awards

2–3 minutes

The first trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor debuted at the 2022 The Game Awards, providing fans a good look at protagonist Cal Kestis.

The game is a direct sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which won Best Action/Adventure Game at the 2020 Game Awards. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will release on March 17, 2023 on Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

The game is set five years after the events of Fallen Order, which happened five years after Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Kestis, now a Jedi knight, looks to survive as the Galactic Empire tightens its grip on the world around it.

The trailer showcased a good amount of gameplay, including Kestis wielding two lightsabers. It also showed his interactions with a variety of characters, both friend and foe.

Combat also took center stage as the trailer provided insights into several types of enemies and how combat might look surrounding them.

Shortly after the announcement, Limited Run released information regarding a $300 collector’s edition of the game.

The collector’s edition, which features a physical copy of the game for the PlayStation 5, comes equipped with a full-size replica of Kestis’s lightsaber hilt with the blade sold separately.

It will also include a premium magnetic box to hold the lightsaber hilt, a certificate of authenticity, an official steel book, and an Obi-Wan Kenobi-inspired Jedi Survival cosmetic pack. This pack includes a hermit cosmetic, a hermit lightsaber set, and a combustion blaster set.

The trailer and release date for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor didn’t come as a complete surprise. A recent leak on Steam tipped fans a couple of days before the Game Awards to the impending trailer.

Respawn Entertainment is developing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor while Electronic Arts will publish the game. This is the same pair that worked on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
