Today’s the day!
If you’re like me, you’re gearing up to explore a brand new area inside the world of the Horizon Series. Horizon Burning Shores takes us to Los Angeles.
One exciting feature of the games has been seeing the remains of known landmarks in the various locations featured in this world, like Denver, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
Despite over 1000 years passing from the world as we know it and the Horizon games, traces of the “Old World” remain.
With a new city to explore and unique stories to discover, the City of Angels has excellent potential. From the trailer, we know that Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Sign will be two landmarks featured.
But let’s explore three more that could make an appearance.
- Santa Monica Pier
For me, this is an iconic Los Angeles location. It’s also right on the water. Because the other theme parks that occupy Los Angeles require massive permissions, this is the easiest way to give us an experience like that.
And at the risk of sounding like I’m repeating myself, the ocean as a backdrop could provide an exciting contrast.
2. Chinese Theater
This historic theater located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles is one that I sincerely hope we see in this DLC. This existing in some form will make it feel like some form of the arts survived despite everything.
We’ve seen other theaters, but there’s something about this one. I doubt much of the Walk of Fame survived, but this represents that part of Los Angeles’ history.
3. Dodger Stadium/Hollywood Bowl
There’s something about the idea of long abandoned sports arenas. With Dodger Stadium, we could see a relic of America’s national pastime in a world where all knowledge of it has been lost.
It doesn’t help that Shazam! Fury of the Gods gave me an image of what a stadium in that world could look like, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since.
Los Angeles is known for so much that it’s hard to narrow down the list of things that I hope this DLC takes a second to allow us to explore. No matter what is tucked away in Burning Shores, I’m excited for this next installment in the Horizon franchise.
