Today is the day.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally here after years of waiting, delays, and anticipation. It feels like a mirage that finally came to fruition.
One of the fun parts about being a gaming fan is the build and chase to a game’s release. It’s a time where theories abound and hype goes unchecked. Once we finally arrive at the destination, however, it’s exciting but the chase is over for the time being.
Sure, many will want to just enjoy Tears of the Kingdom, and they should. That said, I still think release day calls for a way-too-early discussion on what we chase next.
So, what is the next big release you’re excited for now that Tears of the Kingdom is here? The answer may largely depends on your interests and/or consoles you own.
The next big game, I think, that can come close to matching Tears of the Kingdom‘s anticipation is Final Fantasy XVI. The problem with that release is it is PlayStation 5-exclusive starting June 22.

Still, there are many who are excited to see how the new approach to the famed Japanese role-playing game series in both tone and gameplay.
Another highly anticipated title appears to be Starfield, releasing Sept. 6 later this year. This Xbox-exclusive has been in the works for years as well and may serve as the boost the console needs in its first-party releases.
Similar to FFXVI, this game only applies to Xbox players, but has been on their radar for some time now.
If we’re staying on Nintendo, there appears to be a lull after the latest Zelda game. That said, Pikmin 4 looks to be Nintendo’s next big hit as it releases July 21. This game has bubbled under the radar for years and only recently emerged as a tangible release.
While all these games are concrete in their release, we also have those games we seem to always be chasing and never catching. This includes games like Metroid Prime 4, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Hellblade 2, and many others.
Look, I get it. You don’t want to deal with finding a new game to chase and that’s fine. Go enjoy Tears of the Kingdom and just be thrilled it is finally here. I’ll be there too most of tonight.
I just think it’s fun to dive into way-too-early shenanigans because eventually, the high of Tears of the Kingdom will wear off and we’ll be hungry for another big chase.
So which future game release are you chasing? Are you most looking forward to a game on a specific console? Is there another game that will release on multiple consoles you’re excited for release?
