The final chapter of The Storybook Vale expansion in Disney Dreamlight Valley has arrived, delivering an epic and heartfelt conclusion in Part 2: The Unwritten Realm.
Kicking off immediately Part I and the completion “A Long-Awaited Invitation,” players are contacted by the Lorekeeper—the magical book character first introduced in A Rift in Time—for one final journey into a dramatically changed Vale. Whirlwinds tear through the land, villagers are vanishing, and the realm itself is literally unraveling. To restore what’s been lost, players must chase down Snippets and recover the story’s fragmented memories before the magic fades for good.
This final chapter introduces more complex puzzles and expanded exploration across two parallel realms: the collapsing Unwritten Realm and the vibrant Story Book World. Familiar faces like Merida, Flynn Rider, and Hades are caught in the chaos, and their stories risk being erased—unless players can piece them back together in time.
The update also marks the highly anticipated arrival of Maleficent, who’s as sharp-tongued and wicked as fans had hoped. Her questline introduces new mechanics, like navigating Floating Quills, as players work to secure her place in the Vale’s unraveling narrative. Saving her unlocks Aurora, showcased in a striking new Dream Style, as deeper truths behind the realm begin to reveal themselves.
Promising emotional payoffs, deeper lore, and new gameplay twists, The Unwritten Realm looks like a heartfelt finale worthy of everything The Storybook Vale has built so far. I can’t wait to see how this last adventure brings this chapter of Disney Dreamlight Valley to a close.
Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale Part 2: The Unwritten Realm launches today, July 9th, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, along with a patch fixing issues with gameplay and stability. The base version of Disney Dreamlight Valley is also available on Xbox and PC Game Pass while a free upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version for the Nintendo Switch version is coming at a later, unannounced date..
