RPG WrestleQuest Gets Concrete Summer Release Date

2–3 minutes

WrestleQuest is ready to hit the ring.

The wrestling-themed role-playing game is set to make its debut on Aug. 8 on all major consoles and PC as well as on mobile via Netflx. The game saw a slight delay earlier this year, moving its release from May to the summer.

Developer Mega Cat Studios and publisher Skybound Games made the announcement via its most recent “Legends” trailer. This preview showcased combat and a good look at the 16-bit pixel art.

It also showcased the various real-life wrestlers in the game. These include Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Booker T, Andre the Giant, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Diamond Dallas Page, Jeff Jarrett, the Road Warriors, Sgt. Slaughter, and many others.

The RPG will follow wrestlers as they make their way through the ranks of professional wrestling, exploring worlds based on the real careers of many iconic wrestlers.

The game will incorporate traditional turn-based combat as well as quick-time events. Combat will mirror traditional wrestling moves, match styles, and gimmicks all within the RPG framework.

There is also a fair amount of customization in WrestleQuest as it allows you to pick your moves, taunts, style, and entrance.

WrestleQuest will take 40-50 hours to complete without doing any of the multitude of side quests. It will feature 12 playable characters, 400 non-playable characters, 10,000 frames of hand-drawn animation, and 70 music tracks.

Mega Cat Studios has been hyping this game since its announcement in early 2022. The developer made an appearance at PAX East 2023 to showcase the game along with a live wrestling match.

Will you be picking up WrestleQuest? What are your thoughts on the blending of fantasy RPG and professional wrestling? Let us know in the comments below or head over to our Discord channel to join the conversation.
