The retro-brawler Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge announced a new DLC: “Dimension Shellshock”, which is releasing later this year for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One.
Dimension Shellshock introduces a new playable character, the fan-favorite Usagi Yojimbo. While best-known to the wider public as a cameo character who has appeared across the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise time and again, he is the creation of cartoonist Stan Sakai, and the star of his own award-winning comic series. Usagi Yojimbo is a samurai rabbit whose series depicts an otherwise historically accurate take on sixteenth to early seventeenth century Japan, and the series has had a nearly unbroken run since the 1980s.
The DLC also includes a new game mode, new music from the composer Tee Lopes, and alternate color schemes for all playable fighters. Details on these additions will be revealed at a later date. Separate from the DLC, a second free update is coming for the game which will add an additional range of color palette options.
The developers thank the fans for their “totally tubular passion,” which they credit as the only reason they’re able to continue to expand on the game.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was a critical and commercial success. It was nominated at The Game Awards 2022 for Best Action Game and Best Multiplayer, as well as for the DICE Awards’ Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game category and the BAFTA Games Awards for Family game and Multiplayer categories. It sold over a million copies since launch.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu. More info at the game’s official site.
