While the new Story of Seasons game does not make you face this choice (that is, if they stick to the original – the building is already there), it is one you face in almost every other farming sim.
Do you buy the chicken coop or the barn first?
Both take up a fair amount of space, though the chicken coop is smaller. One thing to consider when making this decision is how to allot energy for the task while still maintaining your other chores.
Both provide animals which provide items that can make money.
Both are staples to a farm.
But which one comes first?
In my opinion, the chicken coop should always come first. For a variety of reasons.
- It is the cheaper of the two which means you can build it quicker.
- It requires less resources, which uses less of your energy.
- It takes less space, so like #2, it uses less energy.
- Chickens are cheaper than livestock which means you can buy more faster and use the eggs as an additional revenue stream for building your barn.
