Boss Rush Banter: Which Breath of the Wild Side Quest is Your Favorite?

Tears of the Kingdom has only been out for a few months so naturally, we’re going to talk about its predecessor.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild marked a new direction for the franchise, one that seems to be the path forward for the foreseeable future. Fans had a wide-open Hyrule to explore and find all kinds of fun secrets.

One way the player has to explore Hyrule is through the various side quests available. Not all of these side quests are home runs, but they do offer a great way to delve deeper into the world and see all it has to offer.

We’re almost seven years removed from Breath of the Wild‘s release, which means the game has had time for its newness to wear off and its legacy to take over.

So, which side quest is your favorite?

An obvious choice may be “From the Ground Up,” which includes the construction of Tarrey Town, but that’s because it was so much fun to do.

Breath of the Wild often gets complaints that the world is too dead. Tarrey Town, I believe, offered a bit of a remedy for that. Essentially, you’re building a town out of nothing while bringing together people from all races.

While much of this section is just a large fetch quest, the end result makes up for it because you get a new look on life after a world-ending calamity.

Similar to the Tarrey Town quest, “Hylian Homeowner” is another one that yields a fantastic end result.

You have to begin this one to trigger “From the Ground Up” so it’s connected to it. This one has you paying a lot of money so the quest itself isn’t that interesting but it’s nice to get your own home.

One last side quest I really enjoyed was “Leviathan Bones.” This quest encouraged you to go out exploring in search of the bones of a long dead leviathan.

Finding these bones was a lot of fun because it forced you to explore some remote places on the map. There was a lot of fun lore that could be gleaned from this quest, especially their potential connections to other leviathans from the series.

There are no shortage of quests and tasks to keep Link busy in Breath of the Wild with many of those quests sticking with you long after your playthrough. What’s fun for me as I play through Tears of the Kingdom is seeing how some of those side quests impact the sequel.
