For the longest time, I only had Nintendo consoles. From Gameboys to the Gamecube to Wiis and finally the Switch, I was a Nintendo girl for most of my gaming life.
Over the last few years, I’ve branched out. First to PC gaming and then I got a PlayStation 4 (and then a PlayStation 5). Coming back to a non-Nintendo console for the first time in over a decade showed me how different technologies have changed over the years.

PlayStation’s DualSense Wireless Controller is often considered state of the art. With its haptic feedback and its claim to bring you deeper into the game, for someone who had never experienced that, it was a game changer.

But as I’ve spent more time playing with boy that and the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, I’ve come to the conclusion that despite it’s game enhancing figures, one thing makes the Joy-Cons stand out as the superior controller.
Battery Life.
I’ve noticed when playing that I can maybe get four hours with my PlayStation controller. And for a bit, I didn’t think a lot about it. That is until recent weeks when I’ve been spending a lot more time with my Nintendo Switch.
Both are the same price. But the double to triple battery life that the Nintendo Joy Con gives makes it the superior controller.

A second reason the Joy-Con is the superior wireless controller is that it is more versatile than the DualSense controller. You can play with them in a variety of ways which paired with battery life, makes it more appealing.
Haptic feedback and tying your controller into the game experience may sound nice, but if it comes that much at the expense of your battery life, maybe the hardware needs to be evaluated.
Or perhaps, it is a money grab by PlayStation trying to encourage you to have more than one on hand.
Either way, the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con is the superior wireless controller.
