Playing on the PC or console has been hardcoded into my gaming DNA. Over many years I have enjoyed so many games on these platforms. The feel of a controller or Keyboard and mouse made me feel in control and connected more to the experience I was partaking in. My thoughts on mobile games were neutral at best, with no real yeah or nay on its existence.
Change is inevitable and whenever you are exposed to the unfamiliar you either migrate into it or shun its existence. I tend to give things a chance so my exposure to mobile was mainly first on tablet and later my smart phones. Games like Angry Birds, Pokemon Go, and Mario Run all became part of my journey into more stellar games within the mobile scene. I played many games for years like The Simpsons: Tapped Out at my leisure before I became less enthused about mobile games, so for a while I didn’t download any and play them, but that has shifted in the past year or so due to Netflix and the Library they are offering.
It started off at the end of summer of 2022, and I was watching some Netflix show during lunch, I wanted to find something new, so I browsed the app on my phone to discover that the games section had dropped some new games on its platform. I ended up downloading a game called This is a True Story. Though it was simple, the story, gameplay, and message of it was perfect for breaks and lunchtime. I also could relate to the topic due to where I work. From this point on I would check both Netflix and eventually mobile games in general more frequently.
I only played 2 mobile games in 2022 and so far, I have played almost a dozen in 2023. I completed games on Netflix including TMNT: Shredders Revenge, Dot’s Home, and Highwater. This led me to also complete other mobile games like, There’s this Girl, Sara is Missing, and Data Wing. The experiences are very different from most consoles, but the fun and connection to the experience is still there. So, I cannot wait to continue trying other games. The next one on Netflix I will be trying is Oxenfree II: Lost Signals.
What are your thoughts on mobile games? Did you know Netflix offered games to download and play and if so, have you played any? What are some of your favorite mobile titles? What are your thoughts on this topic?
