Redfall, the latest RPG shooter from Bethesda and Arkane Studios, is a sprawling open world set in a Massachusetts town that is overrun by vampires. The gameplay features mainline quests and a slew of optional quests, while greatly incentivizing exploration through powerful weapon upgrades, consumables, and vampire Blood Remnants that improve health.
Like all such games, a key question players face is, How can I save my progress? After discovering a Legendary Weapon or high-value Blood Remnant, the impulse to manually save is strong. The only problem is that players cannot manually save in Redfall. The following tips will help you navigate this issue:
Autosaving Your Game
When Redfall autosaves, you will see a red vampire teeth animation in the top-left corner of the screen. The following will trigger an autosave:
- Approaching key locations for the first time
- The passing of another regular time interval
- Accomplishing a mission
- Completing a sub-task during a mission, which updates the mission log.
- Picking up a new weapon
Strategies for Saving
When you don’t have time to keep playing or need to save quickly because you’ve secured an important asset, try accepting one of the easy Safe House missions. These tasks are usually close to your location and you can trigger an autosave by simply approaching the area in the overworld. Then you can fast travel back to the Safe House and exit the game.
Alternatively, if you have more time, you can do a quick run in a Vampire Nest or explore the map to trigger an autosave for discovering a new location. These of course can be dangerous and unpredictable, so the Safe House mission is the best bet for saving your game.
