Analysis
This is one of the best Humble Bundle tabletop RPG collections in recent memories, with many of the best books in the line available. The Keeper Rulebook and Pulp Cthulhu alone are rich sources that will keep players occupied for dozens to hundreds of hours.
My personal favorite in the set is Down Darker Trails, a book which explores the wild west via the Mythos. Even beyond games set in that era, it’s a rich mine for ideas and new approaches to old material. The various historical settings are some of the best that Call of Cthulhu has to offer.
Petersen’s books are works by the original creator of Call of Cthulhu (and DOOM developer), Sandy Petersen.
Notably, the Alone Against… series are hybrid Choose Your Own Adventure books and “learn the rules as you go” tutorials that escort a player through an adventure entirely alone. It is a good resource to familiarize yourself witht he rules.
