Palworld has taken the gaming industry by storm. It had high sales since its early access release date because of its Pokémon-like aesthetic and ARK: Survival Evolved player versus environment mechanics. The capabilities of players in Palworld is greatly limited by their player level and base management skills. Higher levels means more blueprints for players to create better technology that ensures their survival and comfort. There are a few ways for players to succeed in Palworld.
Firstly, players receive quite a bit of experience points (EXP) through capturing pals. In fact, there is a boosted amount of EXP granted for the first ten captures of a specific pal. This bonus exists for all pals making it easier to accomplish and gain levels. Furthermore, pals can be sold to merchants to make money which players can use to buy other items from them. This capturing method, however, becomes limited by how many resources players have available which is where base management comes in.
Players should extensively work on building a settled base that can grind out materials for them. In the early parts of the game, players will likely only start with one base. They will have pals that do specific jobs or even have specializations in multiple areas to run the base.
Advancing the base and its level will greatly benefit players. These benefits unlock conveniences for managing resources and essentially walk a player through creating a successful base with all the necessities for the players and their pals.
Although a singular base does work and makes resource management easier, it does come with its difficulties. Pals seem to become more easily stressed and are less inclined to work with only one active base, especially if they are doing multiple jobs. Furthermore, a singular base on a map as large as Palworld‘s means a lot of traveling between exploring and capturing to gain EXP.
Once players have settled and become more used to the game and its system, having multiple bases would be more beneficial for players. Bases can be made specifically for crafting, logging, or even breeding and raising pals. Palworld has the convenience of fast travel which not only exists in teleporters set around the map but also in each base through the pal management portal. Traveling from base to base is a simple click of a button.
One of my biggest difficulties while playing initially was that I would enter areas with pals and enemies far above my level. The level system is pretty similar to Pokémon where levels do matter and greatly increase the ability of the player and their pals. This meant that while exploring, players get into areas that they are unprepared for which, for me, often results in dying. Depending on how well players explore the area, unfortunate timing could mean a long distance to travel from the closest teleporter to their death bag.
Multiple bases do come with its downfalls. Bases are attacked every now and then by raids which can make it difficult for players to quickly be able to react to these attacks since not all bases get raided. Furthermore, it is harder to watch and manage the pals since so many can be placed in a singular base. Multiple bases could mean that players have over thirty pals to watch and manage in a game about survival where food and sanity levels matter.
Players, once they’re able to, should also do their best to get a flying tame. These tames often have saddles that make it possible to fly with them. This will make exploration a lot easier, and most of these pals have riding passives that make it easier to defeat enemies. Furthermore, most rideable pals also allow players to capture pals from their backs.
Additionally, a flying tame would make it easier for players to reach the lower left corner of the map. In that corner on a volcanic island is a village that will greatly benefit players. There are multiple merchants in that village including a pal merchant that refreshes the different pals offered with every visit. This small village makes it possible for players to quickly get coins and resources that are more difficult to find or simply take a while to craft.
Palworld is a game that requires quite a bit of time and effort to succeed in the game. Capturing pals instead of killing them not only gives more EXP but also provides a sustainable income for players who sell them. Having a settled base or even multiple bases makes it easier to spend time exploring and capturing rather than being focused on resource gathering and management. A flying tame is great for exploration and is much faster compared to other forms of transportation. Access to the village in the Southwest makes it possible for players to get resources and pals that are difficult or time consuming to obtain.
