As the first month of 2024 comes to a close, PlayStation hosted it’s first State of Play presentation of the year on January 31.
Lasting around 45 minutes, this presentation introduced fans to upcoming titles as well as featured interviews with various developers who partner with Sony.
As the presentation came to a close, it was announced that fans would not have to wait long for the next State of Play. On February 6, Sony will host another event and this one will feature an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Helldivers 2
Release Date: 2/8/2024
Step into the boots of the Helldivers, an elite class of soldiers whose mission is to spread peace, liberty and Managed Democracy using the biggest, baddest and most explosive tools in the galaxy.
Helldivers don’t go planet side without proper backup, but it’s up to you to decide how and when to call it in. Not only do you have a host of superpowered primary weapons and customizable loadouts, you also have the ability to call on stratagems during play.
From Arrrowhead Games Studios, this co-op game will allow players to partner with up to three friends as they venture forth to protect games and keep the peace.
Stellar Blade
Release Date: 4/26/2024
The future of humanity is balanced on the edge of a blade. Ravaged by strange, powerful creatures, Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of the decimated human race has fled to a Colony in outer space.
After traveling from the Colony, Paratrooper Eve arrives on the desolate remains of our planet with a clear-cut mission: to save humankind by reclaiming Earth from the NA:tive – the malevolent force that has devastated it.
Developed by Korean developer Shift Up, Stellar Blade is a single-player adventure that despite not having been released feels familiar to those who watched the trailer. Through Eve, one will discover what secrets Earth has and help defend humanity and reclaim their home.
Sonic x Shadow Generations
Release Date: Fall 2024
“With Sonic x Shadow Generations, we wanted to bring Sonic Generations to PS5 and PS4 while pairing a brand-new Shadow storyline to crossover with the original story.
With Shadow’s portion of the title, players will get to know him more as a character and understand his motivations. It will create the ultimate celebration of Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Shadow gameplay that all fans will surely enjoy.”

Sonic x Shadow Generations will combine classic 2D and 3D Sonic levels while also featuring a new and original campaign. Fans of the franchise will be able to visit old favorites and go on new adventures with their favorite speedy hedgehog.
Not a lot is known about this project yet, but Sony has promised updates will come at a later date.
Zenless Zone Zero
Release Date: In Development
Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse’s latest urban fantasy ARPG. Alongside a unique art style, dynamic music, and urban life gameplay, the game features thrilling action combat that aims to appeal to both action veterans and newcomers.
In the game’s story, contemporary civilization has been destroyed by a supernatural disaster known as “Hollows.” New Eridu, the last urban civilization that survived the apocalypse, manages to thrive by acquiring the technology to extract essential resources out of the Hollows.
Players will embark on an adventure as Proxies who cooperate with distinctive Agents and unveil the unknown mysteries behind New Eridu and the Hollows.
Foamstars

Welcome to Bath Vegas, home of the Foamstars, the quirky and colourful cast of athletes taking part in Foamsmash. Only those few with enough charisma and skill will be crowned Foamstars.
This 4 v 4 battle game offers numerous battle modes while you are able to construct and change the world around you. From PvP to PvE, there will be numerous ways to experience the game.
PlayStation has promised that regular updates will occur to make the party even better.
Dave the Diver and Godzilla crossover

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

By legendary game creator Hideo Kojima, this action game brings cinematic quality to video games. Pushing the limits, Kojima and PlayStation announce that more details of this title are to come.
That wasn’t the only announcement that fans of Kojima got. He also announced an upcoming return to the action-espionage genre with an upcoming title.
The title, a synopsis, or even a hint at a release date were not provided. However, Kojima said that it would be the culmination of his 40 year career in the gaming industry.
Kojima says that they are going to transcend the barrier between film and games. He also mentioned they will be bringing talent from around the world onto the project.
With the promise of another State of Play only a week away, 2024 is looking promising for PlayStation fans.
