The 2024 Bossies, the second annual presentation of the awards, has its nominees for Best Action Game.

The Bossies is an award show the Boss Rush Network hosts that is a celebration of video games and entertainment. The event is not beholden to announcements and trailers, rather votes come directly from the community.

The award show aims to feature games and entertainment that deserves recognition as the Boss Rush team highlights the best of the year, including content the industry may have overlooked.

Furthermore, the Boss Rush team has partnered many from around the industry who are big fans of gaming and entertainment. These include Indie developers, game publishers, and content creators.

The 2024 Bossies nominations for Best Action Game are:

Astro Bot by Team ASOBI: Astro Bot is a full-size, standalone platformer that sees the titular Astro set out to find parts for his PlayStation 5 mothership while combatting the space bully Nebulax. Similar to past installments, this game draws heavy inspiration from PlayStation’s history, releasing as part of the console’s 30th anniversary.

Black Myth: Wukong by Game Science: This action RPG is the first console game from Chinese developer Game Science. It draws heavy inspiration from the Chinese novel Journey to the West. It follows Sam Wukong, who ascends to Budhahood only to reject the life in the Celestial Court.

Helldivers II by Arrowhead: Helldivers II follows up 2015’s Helldivers, bringing the world of the third-person cooperative shooter to the current era. The game is a direct sequel that follows an elite force of shock troops called the Helldivers as they fight various threats in the 22nd Century. The game leans heavily into environmental storytelling.

Stellar Blade by SHIFT UP: This action-adventure game follows Eve as she tries to save humanity during a war against monstrous creatures. It is set in the distant future and features Eve and numerous other survivors coming together. Shift Up is a South Korean developer that made its console debut with this PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 by Sabre Interactive: This third-person hack-and-slash shooter is the sequel to 2011’s Space Marines. Players control returning protagonist Titus of the Ultramarines chapter as they engage in various melee and ranged combat missions. The game is a spinoff of the tabletop miniature wargame Warhammer 40,000.

While voting has closed for the 2024 Bossies, you can still tune in on Thursday, Jan. 16 to see which action game takes home the award. The event starts at 8:30 p.m. EST with a pre-show while the main event begins at 9 p.m. EST. Catch the event on YouTube.
