A second official Tomb Raider roleplaying game will enter playtesting later this year. Tomb Raider Shadows of Truth opens for playtest applications on March 14, 2024; playtesting will run between April 4 and June 8, this year.

In this officially licensed tabletop RPG you play members of the Truth Seekers: contemporaries of Lara Croft who strive to reveal long-hidden knowledge and thwart those who would steal and exploit artifacts for their own gains. Your group will collectively create their Team using one of the Team Playbooks and then build individual Team members choosing from the Crafter, Scholar, Hunter, Companion, Legacy, Changed, and Reclaimer. One player, the Keeper of Truths, describes the dynamic and compelling world around the Team as they all make the connections which bring the adventure to life.

Tomb Raider Shadows of Truth seems to be set in the same world as the 2013 reboot trilogy, rather than the world of the original games.
Players can request to join the playtest by joining the official fan organization Society of Raiders on the Tomb Raider website.
Analysis
The first official Tomb Raider tabletop RPG was released for free last year. Lara Croft’s Tomb Raiders is written by Crystal Dynamics Senior Technical Designer Matthew Gaston, and was in development since 2007 and internal playtesting since 2009. Essentially created alongside the Tomb Raider Legend trilogy, the game marries together all of Tomb Raider continuity and is dedicated to preserving the flavor and mechanics of the video games.
