No, Nintendo didn’t announce a Direct yet; however, I wanted to jump ahead of the curve. Historically, Nintendo’s first Direct of the year has showcased in the month of February. For example, last year’s first Direct was on February 8th. And February 9th the year before that. And February 21st the year before that. After a jam-packed 2023 and only a few known first-party titles launching this year, there’s a lot of mystery surrounding Nintendo’s roadmap. What are your predictions for the first Nintendo Direct of 2024?
There are a few surefire bets that Nintendo will further elaborate on already existing announcements, especially in the Mario-verse. Princess Peach: Showtime! has already been heavily promoted with pink Joy-Cons, but we have yet to see more on the Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD port and Paper Mario: The Thousand -Year Door. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo showed Mario vs. Donkey Kong if the Direct arrives before its release date on the 16th, although I’m more likely to believe Nintendo would provide an update on Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Florida as well as in Japan (with development of Donkey Kong Country in the latter).
It’s hard to predict which major IP will stand-in as the tent-pole game of 2024 prior to the release of Nintendo Switch successor, which I personally think will not be mentioned in this Direct. I think a beloved port will be the big announcement of either Xenoblade Chronicles X or The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and/or The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
The rest of the Direct will likely be updates on prior announcements, such as dates on Contra: Operation Galuga and Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. Who knows, maybe we will see what Bandai Namco has been cooking up for Nintendo.
I made a “bingo” card for this Direct with some easy predictions and some crazy ones as well. It’s a lot of fun, and if you want to play Nintendo Direct Bingo, try this template that I use.

Of course, in the end, the only ones that know what will be announced is Nintendo. But, there’s no rule that we can’t have fun guessing. Please share your thoughts with us on our Boss Rush Facebook Group or our Boss Rush Discord.
