Stress levels continue to rise for the Bad Kids. Adaine and Aelwyn chat over the ruins of their old home. The two sisters bond, going over the particular of Aelwyn’s work for Kipperlilly, who apparently is independently wealthy.

While they grow closer, Riz’s mother gets more concerned as he reveals what has happened to his mother. Sklonda questions him, quickly pinpointing that he’s taken on a lot of the stress for his friends. She even suggests he run instead of Kristen. Whether Kipperlilly’s wealth and the embezzlement at the Frostyfaire Folk Festival are connected, the connects are adding up. Lola Embers, Ruben’s manager and Fig’s old manager, suggested the switch.

With the announcement of Yolanda’s death and Grix’s going rogue, the Rat Grinders display mixed feelings. Ruben smirks, and Buddy looks concerned while the rest appeared mostly bored. Due to Yolanda’s death, unless they can find another teacher, all cleric are pass/fail which puts major pressure on most groups.

Mazey reveals to Fabian that she might be acting principal due to the way the system is set up. This adds to the reasons that Kipperlilly would be running. If she were put in charge of the school, she’d be free to completely upend Aguefort Adventuring Academy’s system.

Researching Cassandra’s missing spouse, Adaine finds solar and seasonal summer references which shifted toward red fire as Sol’s influence moved into the area, taking particular details from the missing, now forgotten god. Using his tie, Riz discovers the full layout of the gem which is in Lydia. He also records the moon and investigating other divinities, honing in on a particular godly lineage. In doing so, we find that unsurprising connection between that and Fig’s paladin alignment.

Highlights

Emily makes the connection between Lucy Frostblade and the Frostyfaire Folk Festival. Siobhan also throws out about Cliffbreaker possibly having some giant ancestry, connecting a number of corners in the spider’s web. Considering Cliffbreaker pushes Fig away from Cassandra, we keep spiraling around Fig being the center of the old god’s rebirth.

The awkward chaos to sweetness between Fabian and Mazey after she goes in for a kiss when he’s trying to protect her was incredibly endearing. Fabian’s been aching for kisses, and just when he gets a chance with someone he likes, he can’t close the deal out of a terror that she’s in danger and an inability to be vulnerable. However, that said, he did reveal a bit about the loneliness since his mother and Gilear left, which was more than he’s shared with anyone even in the group before.

Lou Wilson beautifully plays Fabian’s vulnerability and the conflict with his appearance of confidence. Since he lost his father in freshman year, the core of his security vanished, and the final foundation crumbled with his mother leaving him behind.

Final Score (4.5 out of 5 Stars)

We’re reaching the halfway point, and emotional vulnerability hit an all time high for Fabian Seacaster while stress pulled the Bad Kids in all direction. In the two previous seasons, we’ve seen this tight friend group early collapse a few times, and they’re working hard to stick close together, but a point will hit when the balls they are juggling are going to drop.
