There’s a lot going on with Infinity Nikki.
Infold Games took time during Sony’s May 2024 State of Play to showcase a new teaser trailer, announcing a PlayStation 5 beta test slated for the third quarter of this year. The game is also set for PC but there is no official release date.
The trailer showcased the world, characters, creatures, and Nikki’s magical abilities that change with her outfits. It also gave hints at the story that will take place.
The Nikki series began in 2012 with the mobile dress-up sim Nikki UP2U. Three other mobile games released with the most recent being Shining Nikki, which released in 2021.
The series has evolved over its time as later games started to include RPG elements. Infinity Nikki will mark the series’ console and PC debut as well as original developer’s Papergames’ debut into the same realm.
Infold Games launched in 2022 as a subsidiary of Papergames. Along with Infinity Nikki, Infold Games is also publishing Ballad of Antara, which saw a trailer during the May 2024 State of Play.
Infinity Nikki takes place in the world of Miraland, which has been the setting from past games. Nikki and her cat Momo set out in an alternate timeline of Miraland, visiting the different nations and experiencing their cultures.
Nikki’s outfits allow her to explore the open-world. The trailer highlighted a few including a floating outfit, a purification outfit, a gliding outfit, and a shrinking outfit.
Infinity Nikki also will seek to balance challenging gameplay with moments of relaxation.
The developer states there will be opportunities to fish, catch bugs, and collect wool from sheep. Momo will have a camera, giving the player opportunities to take photos throughout the world.
There will also be challenges that include puzzles, platforming, and collecting. Nikki’s outfits will play a big factor in how these puzzles are solved.
Kentaro Tominaga is the executive producer of this game. Tominaga was a designer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as well as the director for the game’s expansion pass.

Reacting to the News
I’ve previously said that if a game wants to stand out in a saturated market, it needs to be unique. Infinity Nikki is just that.
It’s not everyday that a mobile game franchise makes a leap to the console and PC realm while appearing to stay loyal to its original premise. In this case, that is playing dress-up and, boy, does it look intriguing.
For one, the State of Play trailer was absolutely gorgeous. This game seems to nail the scope it needs for an open-world. You can definitely see Tominaga’s impact as it does remind me a lot of the scope of Breath of the Wild‘s world.
I still don’t know exactly what to expect from this one and there really hasn’t been much information released. I mean, we still don’t have a set release date.
All that said, this game looks amazing and has a unique blend of dress-up sim and open-world RPG that this one is definitely a game to keep highlighted.
It also looks like Infold Games is trying to make a name for itself in the developer and publisher space. I am hoping for a workman’s effort as I’m sure the company is eying the future as well.
Ballad of Antara was another game that caught my eye during the State of Play and Infold Games is involved with that one as publisher.
It’ll definitely be interesting to see this game progress forward and I am ecstatic to see where Infinity Nikki takes us.
