Nintendo announced during Tuesday’s Direct showcase that four new titles will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, including two titles that are rated Mature 17+.
These four games are The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past + Four Swords, Metroid: Zero Mission (both available on Game Boy Advance), Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and Perfect Dark (both rated Mature 17+ on Nintendo 64).
All four titles will be made available later today, and include some classic experiences gamers won’t want to miss.
Although Nintendo Switch Online already includes the Super Nintendo version of A Link to the Past, the Game Boy Advance port includes an all new game titled Four Swords, which was the very first multiplayer The Legend of Zelda game. The itle was released for a limited time on the Nintendo DSi and 3DS as a free download, but has otherwise not been easily available to gamers since 2004. This new release promises to include online functionality to make connecting with other Zelda players easier than ever before.
Metroid: Zero Mission is an enhanced remake of the first Metroid title. The game was first released in February 2004, and again on the Wii U Virtual Console in 2014 in Japan, 2015 in Europe, and 2016 in North America. The game is chronologically the first in the Metroid franchise, which should be the perfect entry point for new players in the series.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was a groundbreaking title on the Nintendo 64, becoming one of the console’s first major third-party hits, and laying the groundwork for first person shooters to thrive on the hardware. The game was remastered by Nightdive Studios in 2015, with a Nintendo Switch port made available in 2019. The Nintendo Switch Online version keeps the original graphics and performance intact, while providing a classic gaming experience at no additional cost.
Perfect Dark was Rare’s follow-up to their acclaimed Goldeneye 007, and puts players in the shoes of secret agent Joanna Dark in a futuristic cyberpunk thriller featuring espionage and aliens. This NSO release comes at the heels of the first gameplay footage for the newest entry in the franchise was revealed just last week. Just like with the NSO version of Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark will feature online multiplayer, allowing players to partake in deathmatches with gamers all over the globe.
