The latest trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom introduces a key mechanic, Zelda’s swordfighter form, as well as the mysterious void that Zelda must navigate.
The presentation of the Still World suggests that it is heavy on both mechanical and navigation puzzles; even when Zelda’s echo ability is wide open for use, the abilities of it compliment rather than overpower the puzzles. Unlike navigation, it seems dungeon puzzles require distinct, singular solutions based on this presentation.
Zelda obtains a “mysterious sword,” which allows her to dress and fight like Link for a brief period. While echoes and mechanical tools may fight for her, this distinct option allows the player to intervene directly for short periods of time. This mechanic is recharged by collecting certain items in the Still World.
Dampé returns, building clockwork devices that Zelda can use in place of Echoes. While presumably free of some of the limitations Echoes face, they will shatter upon taking too much damage.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be available on September 26, 2024.
