Lenric’s Realm, a hobby design YouTuber, previously recreated Elden Ring‘s opening area Limgrave, as tabletop terrain. In the first video, he translated the plains and woods into a gameboard which can be rearranged at will. In this video, Lenric’s Realm adds the area’s broken roads, building the shattered, gold-shot stone paths and walls out of stone, cork, and perhaps surprising household substances.
Terrain can be used in many tabletop games as a kind of roving, interchangeable gameboard: not only is it an attractive, 3D surface, the terrain changes how units interact via line-of-sight, cover, and high ground.
This video breaks down the process behind more advanced terrain construction. Instead of a “simple” forest, the road is embedded deep into each tile, and each “stone” is individually weathered. The mechanical process is given focus: the blend of glue, alcohol, and paint needed to seal the model and make it playable.
