Spoopy season is here, and 2024 has no shortage of horror titles to choose from. Which one will outshine the others and be the talk of the video game community?
Let’s take a look at what horror/spooky games that are releasing on or around September and October, shall we? Below is just a sampling of has, or will be, releasing:
- The Casting of Frank Stone
- Silent Hill 2
- Until Dawn
- Alan Wake II DLC: The Lake House
- A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead
- RetroRealms: Ash vs. Evil Dead
- RetroRealms: Halloween
- Clock Tower: Rewind
- Fear the Spotlight
I’ve always had faith in the Bloober Team after playing The Medium, and I eagerly awaited their reimagining of Silent Hill 2. Sure, there’s a lot a stake with a prized franchise by Konami, who is likely mimicking the steps taken by Capcom with Resident Evil. Sneak peaks at Silent Hill 2 leading up to its release had driven some concerns in the industry, but the reviews are in, and it seems like an award-winning contender:

Of course, the Alan Wake 2 DLC, The Lake House, is bound to be a fan favorite; however, the trailer leaves little information for us, so we will have to wait patiently for the experience. However, I believe it will be a hit because the first DLC, Night Springs was well done with a Metacritic score of 85 to back my statement up.
Finally, I believe Fear the Spotlight will be a horror sleeper hit that is arriving on consoles October 22nd. It is an atmospheric third-person horror game about two girls named Vivian and Amy who performs a séance after school hours. This horror game has adventuring and puzzle solving all while you try and stay out of the spotlight.
