The 2024 Bossies, the second annual presentation of the awards, has its nominees for Best Remake or Remaster.
The Bossies is an award show the Boss Rush Network hosts that is a celebration of video games and entertainment. The event is not beholden to announcements and trailers, rather votes come directly from the community.
The award show aims to feature games and entertainment that deserves recognition as the Boss Rush team highlights the best of the year, including content the industry may have overlooked.
Furthermore, the Boss Rush team has partnered many from around the industry who are big fans of gaming and entertainment. These include Indie developers, game publishers, and content creators.
The 2024 Bossies nominations for Best Remake or Remaster are:
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy by CAPCOM: This collection is a follow up to the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy. It contains the fourth through sixth games in the series: Apollo Justice (2007), Dual Destinies (2013), and Spirit of Justice (2016). All games are visual novel adventure titles.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake by Team Asano and Square Enix: This remake of Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation (1988) in Square Enix’s unique HD-2D style. The great hero Ortega fails to defeat Archfiend Baramos so years later, his child takes on the quest to take on Baramos.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake by Nintendo: Donkey Kong has taken the Mini-Mario toys, leaving Mario to get them all back. This is a remake of a 2004 Game Boy Advance title of the same name. It is the first game, remake of otherwise, under the Mario vs. Donkey Kong umbrella since 2015.
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection by CAPCOM: This collection of crossover fighting games includes seven arcade titles from between 1993 and 2000. Many of these games haven’t been on modern consoles in a long time. They feature Capcom characters fighting against Marvel icons.
Silent Hill 2 by Team Bloober: This remake brings the 2001 game of the same name to the modern era, reimagining Team Silent’s original title. The game follows James Sunderland as he returns to the town of Silent Hill after he gets a letter from Mary, his dead wife, as she waits for him.
While voting has closed for the 2024 Bossies, you can still tune in on Thursday, Jan. 16 to see which remake or remaster takes home the award. The event starts at 8:30 p.m. EST with a pre-show while the main event begins at 9 p.m. EST. Catch the event on YouTube.
