We return to the world of Kelvorda, coming back to our questing queens in the forest realm of Karkyn. This season begins two weeks after the last ended, opening in a mead hall where the Foehammers celebrate their return to the land of the living.
Unfortunately, due to their deaths, the Foehammers are without a home or fortune. The quickest way to regain their social and economic status would be an advantageous marriage for Princess. Despite her family’s precarious situation, Princess longs to wed for love. Her parents enlist her friends to clear out those approaching Princess with less than savory intentions as well as those who would not serve their capitalist needs.

To Twyla’s surprise and disappointment, her sometimes paramour Alvin asks about Princess while delivering a message from the fae queen. Though she seems to agree that she’s not the marrying type, there’s clear hurt at the implication.

Queen Titania’s message pleads for aid. Troyánn’s mother has approached the fae queen, offering souls for eternal beauty and youth, and when denied, the Mer Queen of Everdeep threatened to seek an even greater immortality than she previously had.
Furthermore, not all fae came home. Many Unseelie are missing, and Queen Titania fears what they might be up to without her tempering presence. She pleads with Twyla to be careful, requesting she stop them wherever she can but having no hint at where they might be.

When our questing queens return to the party, Princess’s line of suitors has grown with a mix from gnomes to vampires and all sorts in between of all genders. With Titania’s warning ringing in her ears, Twyla immediately suspects them all, questioning their motives and side-eyeing the lot.
While the rest turn their attention to the suitors, Gertrude seeks out Nyruth. He readily admits to not having an invitation, lamenting that he hasn’t found the way to remove the curse from her yet. Nyruth admits investment in Gertrude, and he warns that their actions have drawn attention which may just make the sorceress’s life more complex.

Troyánn goes to her father. The pair speak of family with Roy stating he cannot forgive Troyánn’s mother while the daughter still longs to reunite and find some sense of familial peace.
As her friends are distracted, a voice calls out to Twyla, luring her away and claiming Titania lied, causing the destruction of the former fae realm.

The group reunites after Princess goes to hit Karg and finds her fist caught only for him to awkwardly retreat after a very awkward encounter.
Unfortunately, after Twyla shares the matter, things go from bad to worse as Princess doesn’t have a dowery, which means she cannot marry to save her family’s fortune. Her parents ask her and the questing queens to find a trapped dragon which the Foehammers had previously defeated to transport the remainder of the dragon’s hoard.
Highlights
We met a number of NPCs, most of whom will likely end up never showing up again, letting Brennan stretch his vocal and character designing muscles as Alaska enjoyed the flirtation; however, a long line of suitors and every single queen fell in love at first conversation with a crocodile named Mustard.

Adorably dumb and belonging to a dangerous hunter who puts Kraven to shame, Mustard answered questions as best he could, but his mind was on chicken and friendship.
Final Score (4 out of 5 Stars)
Compared to other playing groups, our questing queens manage to both acknowledge Brennan’s incredibly philosophical throwaways while also working through the early days of learning tabletop roleplaying. It’s a fantastically fresh perspective, and the chemistry between all four players raises the level of sarcasm and clapback to new heights at the table.

Of course, the refreshing newness of their approach comes with its share of growing pains including Jujubee often missing key details, Monét repeating facts to the point of earning a table of teasing, and a number of strange twists that Brennan does a brilliant job of going with, but honestly, there are times when ‘yes, and – ‘ goes too far.
It will be interesting to see how our questing queens handle a second turn about the table, so going in for brilliant banter, fantastic looks, and a few stunningly heartfelt moments that will absolutely come out of nowhere with a left hook that will send us to the floor, I’m delightfully optimistic but prepared to keep expectations within reason.
