This is Not a Drill: Nintendo Switch 2 Officially Announced

In typical fashion, Nintendo humbly dropped a little 2 minute “update” this morning. This update is none other than the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch: the Nintendo Switch 2.

This First Look trailer begins with a Nintendo Switch slowly evolving to what is now confirmed at the Switch 2. It appears to be larger in size, sleeker design, magnetic Joy-Cons, and with a more flexible stand.

Not much else was said; however, the update confirmed backwards compatibility:

Last, but not least, Nintendo will offer Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, where consumers can go hands-on with the new console, in cities around the world. Below are the North America cities and dates:

Toronto, April 25-27, 2025
New York, April 4-6, 2025
Los Angeles, April 11-13, 2025
Dallas, April 25-27, 2025

In order to participate in the experience, you do need a Nintendo Account. Ticket registrations for consumers will begins on Jan. 17 at 12 p.m. PST. Check out this LINK when the time comes.
