Wisdom Kaye has made a name taking characters and turning their personalities and designs into epic high fashion ensembles, but in these five nerdy stylings, he has absolutely outdone himself. Any single outfit would elevate your wardrobe. Anyone lucky enough to recreate all five should teach us your fashion ways.

A master of research and high fashion, Wisdom Kaye owns every look, going from main character energy to BBEG. There’s a chance we mere mortals won’t be able to carry the legendary lines as powerfully as he can; however, these five looks were specifically selected for their wearability. We avoided the more eclectic collections like font fashion despite my firm and unwavering desire to strut around as Times New Roman.

5. Sokka – Avatar: The Last Air Bender

Tough, determined, and an absolute silly genius, Sokka rocked a number of looks throughout Avatar: The Last Air Bender, and Wisdom Kaye went high fashion pirate, bringing in nautical elements for our favorite non-bending warrior from the Southern Water Tribe. Though the look shared a number of elements with Zuko’s styling, Sokka won out thanks to the layering making the wearability a bit more forgiving and variable. Zuko’s mid-calf boots were tempting, and for those with thicker calves, finding knee high might be a bit of a trick, which is why this styling isn’t higher on the list.

4. Jack Frost – Rise of the Guardians

Does this expose a weakness for cool colors and layers? Yes.

Am I willing to fight for why this deserves to be on the list as well when the coat is the exact same one as what Wisdom Kaye used for Sokka? 100%.

High fashion clothing is expensive. If you have a high-quality item, knowing how to style it in a multitude of ways makes it that much easier to wear, which means you’re getting more bang for your buck. In this case, cinched at the waist creates a completely different silhouette for Sokka than loose does for Jack Frost. The looser mid-calf boot here also avoids the large calf issue which fitted knee high boots can cause, making it a step above while also containing everything we love about Sokka’s styling.

3. Shanks – One Piece

If you prefer looser trousers, Wisdom Kaye’s styling of Shanks maintained the high mobility looseness from the character’s design while also incorporating a slightly more structured torso silhouette. The sword isn’t everyday wearable of course; however, the flash of color on the attached sash could easily be shifted to a statement piece or even as an undershirt for those wanting a higher neckline. If you wanted to tuck in the shirt or cinch the waist, a red statement piece could instead be shifted to a belt.

Overall, there a welcome flexibility to the outfit which can be either a boon or a pitfall depending on how confident you are in taking high fashion onto the streets, so we’re putting this one at number three.

2. Silco – Arcane

Silco’s fashion killed it in Arcane, so bringing it over almost identically into the real world could’ve been an easy win, but Wisdom Kaye elevated the tailored, clean lined sharp silhouettes which Silco wore and gave them a bit of rock star flare with a statement piece of a belt and complementary cuffs. Tucking the tassels might’ve won this styling the number one spot but considering the easy modification for anyone attempting to replicate with less expensive items, Silco’s styling is a strong second place.

1. Loki – Marvel Universe

There were a number of tempting Marvel fashions. If we were putting together a list of stylings that would make a person look like they’re a BBEG that escaped some group’s DnD campaign, Dr. Strange would’ve stolen this spot away; however, despite the beaty of the Boglioli suit, the cape-like coat pushed that a bit too far from day-to-day wearability for me to justify its inclusion. Similarly, the cuffs from Thor’s styling pushed that a bit over the edge as well.

Loki won out above the rest for a number of reasons: 1) no cape; 2) bracelets which elevated the green of the blazer without drawing undesired attention which larger bracer-like cuffs would or causing issue with sleeves going over them; 3) layers which enable easy modification for physical needs including different body shapes, texture preferences, and temperature needs; and 4) the outfit contained structured fitted lines without clinging too close to the body, meaning less likely to restrict movement.

Does it still give BBEG energy? Yes, but in a way that could also be styled to just say slightly gothic or steampunk at a push.
