I recently completed Okami HD on my Nintendo Switch to prepare for the sequel that is currently in the works. The game sat in my backlog for a long time as a recommendation from my friends because of how much I love the Legend of Zelda series. One of the primary mechanics is the celestial brush techniques you learn and leverage to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. If you’ve played Okami, which ones were your favorites?
In Okami, there are numerous celestial brush techniques: Sunrise, Rejuvenation, Power Slash, Bloom, Water Lily, Vine, Cherry Bomb, Waterspout, Crescent, Galestorm, Inferno, Veil of Mist, Cat Walk, Thunderstorm, and Blizzard. Several surround the elements, and it could be as simply as drawing a line from the element to the target.
Although I love playing around with the elements, I found Veil of Mist both unique and helpful. Veil of Mist slows down time, and I’ve used it constantly to get the upper hand in battle or solve a fast-paced puzzle. I only wish I learned it earlier in the game!

A close second is Galestorm. You can produce a direct gale forward to subdue enemies or propel yourself forward if you happen to be on a water lily. You can also command wind to blow to the left or right. Because of its utility, I’ve found fun ways to experiment with and progress through the game.
