Nintendo presented a Mario Kart World Direct on April 17, providing information for the game, including new modes, items, tracks, and more.
The new Mario Kart game will release on June 5 alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 as one of its launch titles.
New Courses
In Mario Kart World, players can drive through an interconnected world, and it is up to the player to start a course. When players finish it, they have to get themselves to the next course. With this in mind, there are still new courses for this game.
Some of the new tracks are Mario Bros. Circuit, Crown City, Salty Salty Speedway, Starview Peak, Boo Cinema, Toad’s Factory, Peach Beach, and Wario Shipyard. Selected tracks from past games will also be in the game, but just in different sections of the world.

If you’re wondering about a certain colorful track (Rainbow Road), you will have to win some races to see if it’s there.
Characters

Mario Kart World contains 24 racers. Some of these characters are new like Goomba, Spike from Super Mario Bros. 3, and the one players are excited about, Cow. There are more characters to choose from, and each will affect the vehicle players choose.
Modes
There are two main modes for the game. Grand Prix is a campaign mode, where players will race in the cup of their choice while in Knockout Tour players will have to qualify to race the next track. In Knockout Tour, players will race four tracks and make it in the top 16, then top 8, and then the top 4 positions. If a player doesn’t, they’re knocked out. Players can choose between eight cups to race and try to win the top spot.

In Grand Prix, there will be seven cups, and they are all unlocked from the beginning. Each cup has four connected tracks for players to drive, fly, jump, boat, and work through. It won’t be easy, as you will have many challenges, not just from the racers but from Hammer Bros, Bullet Bill cars, and traps.
Items
With a new Mario Kart on the horizon, players will have new items to use to help them in the race. One of these new items is Coin Shell. When players throw it, a line of coins will form for them, or their opponents, to collect.
The Ice Flower allows players to freeze other racers, which will slow them down or even have them slide off the track. The Hammer requires players to position themselves right to throw arching hammers toward an opponent or on the track. The hammers will remain on the track for a limited time.

The Mega Mushroom will make racers bigger and faster for a limited time. The feather from Super Mario World allows players to jump to avoid attacks coming their way. Kamek will transition other characters into something for a limited time.
Yoshi’s Restaurants
There are Yoshi’s restaurants are everywhere in the game, and they allow players to unlock additional costumes depending on the food. Once eaten, each food unlocks a costume for that character individually.
New Tricks
Mario Kart World contains new gameplay elements known as tricks. Players can do a charge jump, which will allow them to jump over obstacles, jump on rails to grind, and dodge certain attacks from other opponents. Players can also use it to jump on walls and ride them for a limited time. This move may lead to secret paths in the race.

There is a rewind feature that allows player to try again. It’s important to note that when used, the other racers stay driving in real time.
Additional Modes
Mario Kart World still contains the time trial and battle modes from previous titles, but it also includes free roam, where players can drive anywhere. Players may encounter a P Switch while roaming, which allows them to do challenges and gain rewards. There are also hidden coins, blocks, and areas to take a picture to customize and share.
Players can player with others via split screen or being online with all of these modes. Game chat is also available to allow players to chat and share while they play.

Mario Kart World has a lot of new ideas, fresh gameplay elements, and looks beautiful in motion. You can buy the game for $79.99 USD on June 5, or you can purchase the Switch 2 console bundle with a digital code for the game for $499.99 USD.
There’s more to the game, but Nintendo wants you to play it for yourself and explore the massive world.
