The Nintendo Direct was packed with an hour of surprises with new games, release dates, the plans of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series, and more! With 27 games showcased, this Direct has a great plan for the future of the Switch family. Let’s jump in!
Releasing: Today
Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush
Releasing today, this paid DLC content contains exploration of Donkey Kong’s home, and if you have completed the main game, you will be able to play Emerald Rush, which has you collecting certain gems in a limited time to proceed to the next round. To help you in these “rushes”, you can collect three perks that will help you in these trials. Check out the trailer:
Lynked: Banner of The Spark
In this action co-op adventure, you and other players will save robots, gather resources, and build a town for you and your companios. You’ll also craft new weapons. fish, and unlock new abilities.
Storm Lancer
In this 2D roguelite adventure, you and another player will attack and defend yourselves in the 80’s anime stylized game in couch co-op or single player. You can purchase new melee and range weapons as you progress through these challenging levels.
Releasing: September
Hades 2 – September 25th (Digital)/November 20th (Physical)
The sequel to the hit game, Hades, is coming soon to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. On the Switch 2 edition, you can play the game in 1080p and 120 frames per second in docked mode and 60 frames per second in handheld. Get ready for new characters, new story, and same intense combat.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection – October 30th (Digital)/ December 12th (Physical)
The Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will contain Arcade, Console, and Handheld versions of Mortal Kombat games ranging from the first to the fourth game and some of the side games along with new interviews from the creators and developers who worked on the games.
Releasing: November
Dinkum – November 5th
Build, farm, forge, and raise animals on remote island inspired by the Australian Outback.
The Legend of Zelda: Age of Imprisonment – November 6th (Switch 2 only)

Kirby Air Riders – November 20th (Switch 2 only)
Two amiibo will be available for Kirby Air Riders that you can interchange, and a second Kirby Air Riders presentation is coming before the game release.
Releasing: December
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – December 4th (Switch 2/Switch)
The wait is finally over! Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is releasing on December 4th. Along with the release there will be a visual retrospective for Prime 1-3 on October 28th and new amiibo of Samus and Samus on a bike on November 6th, with Sylux releasing on the release date.

PowerWash Simulator 2
Time to do some more cleaning to the hit game PowerWash Simulator. Now, you can do it co-op and with new cleaning material. Check out the trailer.

A ton of games are coming in 2026 with some dates and new annoucements coming sometime in the year.
Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade– Janaury 22nd
We have the release date and additionally, Square Enix annouced that the whole trilogy is coming to Switch 2.
Dynasty Warriors Origins – January 22
Dynasty Warriors Origins is coming to Switch 2 with new DLC for the first time.
Virtual Boy Coming To NSO Expansion Pass – Feb 17th
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined – February 25th
The PS1 exclusive is being remade and reimagined for 2026, and this is the first reveal of the game.
Resident Evil VII/Resident Evil Village/Resident Evil Requiem – February 27th
The horror continues on with Resident Evil 7 and 8 coming to Nintendo Switch 2 with RE 9 coming to the platform also. Check out additional coverage HERE.

Celebrating Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary
Shigeru Miyamoto started the Nintendo Direct by announcing the 40th Anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, and there is a lot coming. For this recap, we’re going to focus on the game announcements along with the new animated Mario movie titled, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It will contain the same cast, and more will be revealed later on it will release in the Spring. Also, it was revealed that the talking flower from Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be made into a product that you can buy.
Two new games are also coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
As I try to stop crying from the cuteness and want of this game, the new entry to the Yoshi series looks superb and something new for players with astonishing use of stop motion.
