Developed by Frictional Games, SOMA released in 2015 to high praise for its memorable story and bone-chilling scares. It is still a highly recommended horror game to this day, and now, Abylight Studios, an indie publisher based in Barcelona, Spain, is preparing to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund a tribute to SOMA’s ten-year anniversary with a Limited Collector’s Edition for the Nintendo Switch. The collection includes the following:
Fully physical 16 GB cartridge: Switch 2 compatible, compatible with US Nintendo Switch systems
Reservable cover art
CD of the game’s soundtrack: Composer, Mikko Tarmia
This will be available in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, andJapanese.
Abylight Studios has finished production of the Switch cartridge and have three stretch goals planned. With over 1,000 followers within 24 hours of posting the Kickstarter page, everyone is hoping this will be an overwhelmingly successful campagn.
If you are a fan of SOMA and want a copy for your Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, be sure to follow their Kickstarter. Note that a standalone copy of just the game will be available through this campaign if you wish to skip the extra goodies.
If you haven’t heard of SOMA, here is a high-level description of the game:
“Enter the world of SOMA and face horrors buried deep beneath the ocean waves. Delve through locked terminals and secret documents to uncover the truth behind the chaos. Seek out the last remaining inhabitants and take part in the events that will ultimately shape the fate of the station. But be careful, danger lurks in every corner: corrupted humans, twisted creatures, insane robots, and even an inscrutable omnipresent A.I.” –Abylight Studios
Lastly, if you’re a fan of physical media, be sure to check out Abylight Studios’ store, which also features Hyperlight Drifter: Special Edition, Super Hydorah, and Cursed Castilla. The website also states that they are also working on physical editions of Frictional Games’ other well-known titles, Amnesia Rebirth, Amnesia the Bunker and Amnesia Collection.
